I have a leak from the large pipe on the power steering reservoir that runs to the rack, I can see where it has rubbed against the body causing a weep from the pipe. Is this a special pipe or just normal heater hose type pipe?? If I disconnect the pipe at the rack, I assume that I will loose only the fluid in the reservoir, not all the fluid from the system??
I think it's the metal pipe that is the high-pressure feed hose to the rack, with the rubber hose being low pressure fluid return. I doubt that removing it would drain the rack.
I am fairly sure you could safely replace the return hose with fuel hose or equivalent.
There's 2 hoses on the fluid bottle I think the thinner one Matthew was refering to is the return & the one I need is the feed pipe, which is heater hose size, just seems that it is stronger than heater hose!
Neither of the hoses to the reservoire is pressurized and could be replaced with whatever fits the studs.
