Does anyone have pictures of the location of the Power steering pump and waterpump on a 92 900 non turbo? My first problem is that my steering fluid reservoir is empty. When I filled it, it all leaked on to my driveway overnight. An even after I filled it, I had no power steering. I am wondering if the pump is bad, the rack, or a line. I would also like to know how hard it is to to the waterpump. I just hit 200,000 miles and I think it should be done. There is no heat when I sit idle, but there is when I drive.

Thanks

The no heat at idle may be the bypass valve [mounted in the engine bay by the brake reservoir]. I removed mine and re-routed the hoses.

Check the hoses connected at the PS reservoir [one large, one small]. They tend to go bad at that location. Solution is to cut back a a little and re-clamp them. Be very carefull you can break the stems easily due to the age. If you remove the reservoir from it's mount there should be enough slack to pull it away to gain access to the clamps. Gently make a cut first to release the hose. They could leak lower down too...you will have to dry both hoses and check for the leaks. Also check by the PS boots for leaks. If the rack is leaking it needs to be replaced or rebuilt. I sugest replacing the hoses at that time, not like my PO who did the rack and not the hoses...I am dealing with a leak myself in the hoses somewhere.

If the leak is so severe it might just be leaking, and not filling, not bleeding, etc The system will self bleed if you turn the wheels left and right a couple times.

The pumps are on the front of the engine next to firewall. Waterpump is next to alternator and shares belts, PS pump is on the exhaust side, near the steering rack and exhaust.
