Being fairly new in here, I have a question about an ECU. I need to replace mine, per my Saab mechanic. It's throwing codes everywhere and exhibiting very erratic behavior. (But only on an inconsistent basis. :D)

I see that there are "plug n play" units available, but I've also read that ECU's need programmed via Tech2. Which is right? Can I order an ECU (This one with Stage 1 upgrade) and simply install and go, or should I only go with the more traditional method?

Thanks,
Darrin

So any seller saying you can just plug the ECU in and "go" isn't telling the whole truth? I asked because I'd also seen in other Saab forums that many people use a "plug n play" type ECU with good success. I'm not doubting your knowledge at all, I just want to be sure. Has ANYONE here ever successfully gone through this process?

Link to these plug and play statements? Are they for older pre-2003 9-3s? I can see that working.
