Is it possible to install a dash pod with a turbo gauge into a car that hasn't got a turbo gauge? More to the point, would the gauge work?

Absolutely. A search would reveal similar topics in this forum.

Find a way to run vacuum hose through the firewall, tap into a certain place. Get power from the nearby fuse panel and you're set.

I'm talking about the factory boost guage in the factory binacle, fitted to a car which didnt have one before

I think this is what Mike means.

Ah ok, then that would be rather difficult. The stock turbo gauge is just more of a suggestion anyway :). Maybe we'll let him clear things up.

Your quite right though, installing an aftermarket boosty guage in a pod is straight forward, and as you say been done many times ;)
