My first Saab 900 Classic deserved my efforts for refurbishing the stylish looking sedan. In fact it is my first car, hence my girlfriend chose the 9-3 coupe turbo (HPT).

Anyway, me and my friend planned this week for some bodywork. When I bought the car, I got a new door with it. Suits perfectly he said and I started lacquering the donor-door. Well.. here we go folks! My friend -quite experienced with cars- helped me and we took off the old one, and attached the newborn.

Urm.... (this is not a joke, this actually happened...)

My first post will be the stupidest of all first post posted ever I guess over here. Other jobs are going quite well by the way, central doorlock, interior-work.. ouch about this one.

I think, with a lambo style swivel hinge, that we could make that work somehow. :cheesy:

Makes you realize just how long those coupe doors are.

had a similar experience many years ago with a triumph 2000 estate and saloon they were both 4 door and the rear door on the estate was creased when bought it and I got a saloon and took the toor off to replace itas same colour, and although the same width the top corner was different ...had a gap.. so learnt that although things sometimes look the same they are not but a 2 dr on a 4 dr a bit obvious really, but best of luck with the angle grinder, and if the door is good and the glass isnt scratched be a good buy for someone else

could be worse, you could have bought a set of 'Saab' wheels and they were they wrong stud pattern LOL, but at least we are brave enough to admit we have made a blunder:cheesy: I think it's called the Joys of Motoring and D.I.Y.. at least the donor car for mine was same colour, as I have had to spray a door on a 900 I had and its a nuisance with all the rubber and trim to remove/mask up

well you could keep the back window down as you would have a wind deflector with the door like that
