Just wondering if anybody is as fed up as me with those mudflaps located in the middle of the car between the front and back wheels? They're forever grounding when I go over speed humps or uneven surfaces. Does anybody know why these are fitted? Someone told me they are for cold climates to stop snow sticking to your underside! Not sure if this is true or not. Would it be ok to remove these mudflaps or are they protecting some delicate gubbins? Would appreciate any help!

Plenty of us have taken ours off for the same reason as you, and even Saab stopped using them for the 1998 model year. The flaps are more or less a holdover from the rally days when they'd keep rocks and mud out of the rear suspension.
