I just purchased a Simmons (what the box said) exhaust from thesaabsite.com. Nice exhaust, fairly cheap, and not loud (wife drives the car on occasion). I essentially wanted something to replace the original that would give a little more oomph. Well, it does do that, and is nice and quiet, BUT, it sticks out the back like a sore thumb.? It is almost EVEN with the back bumber (very end of the car). When it was installed, they said that that was as far back as they could get it.

I don't buy that as the rear muffler is barely hanging on its hangers -- the "rods" that slide through the hangers are not even all the way through the hangers!? Any ideasm has anyone else had this problem? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I wanted to make this Saab a "sleeper", with this thing it looks awful.

After making sure there wasn't an error made on installation, I'd get in touch with thesaabsite. Send them some digital pics if you can. Maybe they can point you in the right direction or replace it or something. They do have a brief installation guide on their site, but it's extremely unhelpful. Or maybe you can take it to an exhaust shop and get them to chop out a couple of inches? If you go back to the same shop maybe they'd do that free!
That install job sounds fishy. I'd get up under there and check to make sure everything is seated correctly...

Thanks for the help. Took it back 2min after I picked it up (meineke on Market). They said they banged it down as far as it would go. Should have just got to Autospecialists (usual mechanic). They couldn't get to it today and I REALLY wanted it on! Had huge rust holes in both mufflers! ahhh, living at the coast!

Much quiter now, doesn't even sound loud (compared to hole exhaust), but the power is better!
