'92 T9000:  I'm 1/2 way throught my Headgasket replacement. Going to also replace timing chain (155,00mi).

Question: dealer mechanic says I have to "peen" the chain link when I connect it. I'm confused, does a master Link chain require "peening"? Or is that an endless chain that requires it?

Reason I ask is because he says the dealer shop uses a special tool for "peening", and he has no idea what the DIY-er would use. I've been search all the archives to figure this out but never found a definitive answer.

If I order a chain with a master link, do I need to worry about "peening" or is the master link a special connection that doesn't require it?

Master link is easier IF you don't have the Tool or detailed knowledge of the peening procedure..
MS link must face the appropriate direction tho !
