I did the PCV update to my 2001 9-3 SE since I was getting some oil dripping down onto the catalytic converter and I used the PCV update kit mentioned in this thread.

This was for a 9-5 but I was told the same update worked for both.

I installed it but for some reason I'm getting white smoke pouring out of the exhaust now. i think oil's being pulled into the intake.
I put all the original parts back in and fired it up and got less white smoke but it's still blowing a lot of white smoke when I give it any gas.

Does anyone have a diagram of how the crank case vertilation tubes are suppose to be connected? I know I have the originals in place and properly connected but don't know if I have a problem with a check valve or just left over oil that needs to be burned off.

Thanks

Oil smoke will be light blue. If it's really white, it is more likely coolant.
Maybe the WIS has a diagram or schematic of the engine vent system v 6 (version 6)
If the turbo seals are "blown", then its a whitish smoke (I think), as the oil is not burned. I recall this from somewhere.
Check your plugs, compare them to the charts.
Monitor the fluid levels and the oil quality.

If it's actually coming out of the exhaust, yes, but I recently had the pan off and when it was put back up the PCV hose running to the nipple on the pan didn't get put back on or came off and I had lots of white smoke from oil dripping on the exhaust and other hot parts.

So, in theory it could be a leak from something in the PCV6 kit. I'd get under the car and see if there are any obvious leaks from it.

Smoke cleared up

So after reconnecting the hoses properly and talking with my neighbor-mechanic he said that most likely i just sucked some oil into the intake and it just needed to burn off.

So i drove my car to work today, about 12 miles and by the time I got to work I wasn't blowing any smoke at all.

I feel bad for everyone around me on the first 5 miles though because there was a lot of white smoke. It did clear up as I drive and the engine and turbo boost seem normal.

I'll keep an eye on it. The reason I did the update was because of a small oil drip in the back of the engine onto the cat. I realized after some time that the down tube from the oil collector to the oil pan was just too loose. I could easily pull it off on either end. I put tie wraps on both ends to seal it better and will see if that stops the drip.

I'll post again in a few days after I've run it for a while.
