Title says it all.

I have the parts but it look like you have to go from under the car to get at the oil collector. Has anyone done an excellent write up with pics of the install to help me through the process?

I have the tutorial from genuine saab Tech bulletin but just wondered if thereare any better posts about it. (This community is always goodf for that.)

I just did the job this past weekend. I had to go under the car to take off the intake manifold brace and the hose to the sump but I found it easier to take out the oil separator from the top. It's awkward either way. Going from the top, I didn't need to disconnect the alternator to get it out. Just keep the wrenches away from the alternator's output terminal!

IIRC:

The previous revision had a drilled hole into the oil filler tube with a metal insert for the new tubing. Link to an old fix: http://photo.platonoff.com/Auto/20040919.Saab_9-5_crank_case_vent_fix/

The newest revision has a new oil filler tube with the part for the new tubing integrated as part of the tube. link to new fix: http://www.fixmysaab.com/9-5_repair/PCV/intro.asp?nsteps=2

The original, from the factory (or at least, mine), had nothing coming off of the oil filler tube.

This is only from my recollection of the research that I did before I put in the newst revision. I know that there are other changes to the PCV fix (vaccuum routing, oil trap entry bore sizes) , but that should be the quickest way to tell the old from the new.

However, I'm new around here, so more experienced folks might have more detailed (and/or correct?) explanations.

Mine had no nothing coming off the filler tube either from the factory.

The PCV system is in. took about 1 1/2 hours. Hardest part was getting the oil collector off. stuck bolt.

The link above from Fixmysaab was the best tutorial I had and it was great.
