My PAS pump gave up the ghost a few days ago. No warning, lots of noise, a nasty stench and then the steering became very heavy. By the time it was safe to stop - most of the fluid had been deposited under the bonnet.

Ive barely used the car as Ive found the dreaded bulkhead has decided to seperate itself frm the rest of the car. Im intending to scrap the car but I left it in a side road about 2 miles from home. I would like to fetch the car and drive home or to the breakers.

Is the car safe to drive? I have started it, moved the steering wheel and althouigh Ive lost the assistance, I have no strange noises from the pump. I dont care if Im going to cause any long-term damage to the rack, etc. - just as long as its safe for the short trip home or to the yard.

Any advice welcome please!
Cheers.
Paul.

Assuming you can still steer the thing, I'd say give it a go! ;)

And, instead of scrapping it outright, consider parting it out and you may just reap some monetary benefits instead of suffering a complete loss.
