hey gang,

I was just rushing home with some drives to I could work from home amid this crisis we're having and my car went into limp home mode.

The Tech2 reads: TCM P0722. Output RPM. No signal.

I am in an absolute rush and at this point, I don't even have time to diagnose but what should I look for? (I really miss having a driveway) I am looking at just replacing what needs to be replaced. Do I grab a TCM?

I found that part and I can see it on the 4 but I'm staring at an auto v6 transmission and I can't find the sensor. I see the tcm sitting on top and that's it. The diagram looks like a 5 speed.

So without any luck, I am taking it to a Saab specialist. They told me I likely have to replace the trans but they're gonna flush it and see if that does it. The absolute last thing I wanted to do was replace the trans but I might have to. It's like a 2k job :(

Search Results for: speed sensor
You have AF40 transmission.

Location:
"The sensor is mounted inside the valve housing in the rear part of the gearbox."

Update: I went to Two Guys From Sweden here in LA.

I went here back when I had my 04 Arc and 04 Aero. The Aero had two VINs and I didn't have a tech 2 back then and I took a family member's 83 Volvo 240 there so they're pretty reputable. I decided to swap the transmission. They told me it wasn't good and that in order to replace those sensors on the AF40, it requires tearing it down any way. The car has 160K. They happen to be walking distance from me so I took a corona virus stroll and saw it up on the stands already half way there.

The job is gonna cost me around 2K it looks like. Not what I wanted to spend but I don't want to go hunting for another car right now. If I still lived in a house, with a driveway, and some equipment like I used to, I probably would have attempted this on my own. I like to do the jobs myself, I have swapped engines on the 4 Cyl so seeing how much I am about to spend bugs me but I have already put tons of work in the car as is.
