The Saab is a 9-3 2003 2.0T with 20K.
The car previously sat in my grandmother's driveway for 2 years only rarely being turned on.
When i received the car it had 14K on it, I have since put 6K on it.
I have had the car for about 6 months.

What are the first steps I should pursue to solve this issue?
Are there certain hoses that are prone to crack?

I have already cleared the code once, and the engine light came back on, so I am assuming it was not simply the gas cap was not tight.

it still could be your gas cap did you check to see if it was tight, the cap could also be bad. Leave the CEL on and take it to the dealer. They should give a new cap i believe is under warranty for 10 years

Yes, forgot to mention that. I did unscrew it completely and re-tighten it to make sure it was on properly.

Then i reset the error code.

Also, the gas cap did not appear to be damaged.

Is this something that I should have fixed right away? or can i continue driving this car till I figure it out.

Most likely gas cap. There was a TSB--dealer should provide new one free of charge.

Could also be a check valve on the front of the engine toward the radiator but most likely the gas cap.

i would still take it in and try for a new cap

you might also check the charcoal canister for cracks

there is also a return valve on the left side of the gas tank that goes bad.

if the cap doesnt fix it get a leak test

Purge Valve

2003 9-3 linear. P0455 emissions code. Checked gas cap, fine.
Can someone please tell me the exact location
of the purge valve? Thank you
