Traded in my 04 Chevy Colorado. I love AWD/turbo cars, have always liked the WRX. and was going to purchase an Evo back in 03. The discount GM is offering sealed the deal for me. I paid $20,500, which was 9K off MSRP. I love the car so far. Fun to drive, can carry all of my military gear, and looks great. Saab drastically improved the look of the WRX. After my shoulder heals from surgery, I am going to start upgrading the performance. My goal is 280 whp while maintaining reliability. Here is a list of the upgrades I am looking at.

IHI VF34 Turbo
Gruppe-S V2 Manifold w/ Helix Uppipe/catted downpipe
Helix TMIC
STi Injectors 565 CC
Accessport
Exhaust - haven't decided yet. I want to maintain a quiet exhaust note, and hate the riceboy/fartcan exhaust look. May go with a Stromung.

don't worry about the fart can. the free-er the exhaust w/ the boxer engine and unequal length headers that come on the 9-2X, the more it sounds like a harley. it sounds nothing like those honda fart cans.

don't forget your walbro 255l fuel pump, then you should be set. i had a similar setup on my wrx and i got a nice easy 250whp on my easy map, 270whp on map w/ slightly more boost and timing. the 250 map ran flawlessly, the 270 map required a few gallons of 100 octane before it was truly happy. that setup got me 12th place in the 2003 One Lap of America (out of 84 cars oozing w/ crazy hp numbers). that's tuning w/ a 10.9 air fule ratio, which is what i always shoot for. many tuners will push it to 11.3 (which should get you your 280whp), but that's pretty lean and pushing it unless you flow test your injectors and install fuel rails. i absolutely abused that wagon for 9000 miles in 13 days without a single wimper from the engine.
