Hey there everyone been having some overheating issues. whenever I am driving my car when it reaches operating temp it just keeps going hotter and hotter. but as soon as i turn the heater on it goes right back down to normal. here is what i have checked so far.
coolant is proper mixture according to saab tsb
the cap on the reservoir I believe is good cleaned both the vacuum and pressure relief valve.
the water pump is pumping but unk if the pressure is good enough
no leaks on pressure test

i believe it to be the thermostat but wanted to make sure this sounds right?
also how hard is the thermo job on this? anything else need to come off?

It sounds like ur thermostat is stuck closed(or open im not sure) but i would replace that and see if that solves the prob. U have to drain the coolant unless u dont mind coolant spilling everywhere when u undo the top hose off the housing... Remove the delivery pipe for better access, then theres 2 13mm bolts to the housing and then voila thats it refitting is opposite of removal.
