hi saab owners i have a 1999 saab 93 convertible i bought it with a serious oil leak at the timing end crankshaft i replace the crankshaft oil seal hoping that would cure the problem but it hasnt any one have any ideas what is causing the new seal to leak would be very gratefull for your imput thaanks

there was a thread where some one was rebuilding their engine and were replacing the crank oil seal but people said that you shouldn't due to the same problem as you as when you put the new seal in. as its almost impossible not to curl the lip over now if i remember correctly the way to put it in is to use a piece of thin card to keep the lip out as you put it in place hope this helps

When I replaced mine recently, I didn't have any curling problems. Did you use an Elring seal? Did you replace the o-ring on the oil pump cover? Those are known to leak on occasion.
