So I have an oil leak at the crank pulley and I am now replacing the seal in front of the oil pump, but while I was replacing that I noticed that some oil had made it's way out of the valve cover as well and formed some caked on oil on the engine. I noticed this a couple weeks ago and it started getting worse so I stopped driving it and decided to replace the seal. During those couple of weeks I believe the car was running a bit low on oil because of it. Would running low on oil cause more sludge to form in a shorter period of time and would multiple oil leaks be a sign of sludge? I had noticed that it was making that ticking noise that I know is a sign of sludge, but when I added oil it went away. I am probably going to clean it out soon anyways, but I just want you guys' opinion first.
