I have a 2004 Saab 9-3 Arc Conv. and I was wondering how I can find out how many were built that year? Does anyone know of a place where production run information is available? I have car 10500 and I am trying to determine where it was in the 2004 run. Thanks

I'd be interested to know myself (for SS).

You could try the 1-800 number for Saab. That'd be my first place to look.
When they can't help, I'd call your local Parts department. They might be able to get pretty close, just based on parts that appear in 1 model & not the other (VIN breaks).

How do you know that?

I looked at some sites that explained the VIN number and what it means. The last 6 numbers seem to be the run number of the car, I think. so 000001 is the first. The site says "
12th - 17th Character: The 12th through the 17th character in your Saab's VIN indicate the sequence of the vehicle for production as it rolled off the manufacturer's assembly line. The last four characters are always numeric.

These last six characters are perhaps the most critical portion of the VIN for most European cars. Because of mid-year production changes by car makers, these can be extremely important in identifying the proper part numbers for ignition, fuel, emission and engine components. These types of parts are often listed with the caveat that they fit vehicles up to a particular VIN or before/after a particular VIN sequence." See this and more about Vin numbers at http://www.autohausaz.com/saab-auto-parts/saab-vehicle-identification-numbers.html

Wow, so according to my VIN I have car # 60,213 for 2003. They made quite a few... It would be interesting to get the total production numbers.

#4,688 from 2003 line

does this mean ALL 2003 9-3ss, or 2003 Linear?
I'm gonna guess all 2003 9-3SS. It would be too hard to deliniate between model lines as they differ so much from country to country. It would also make VIN breaks difficult, as some VIN breaks occur for different trim pkgs.

So they can say all cars lower than 4688 get dead pedals, all cars higher than 4689 don't.

Well, I took my own advice. I called on 6/21, and yesterday (7/19) I got a call back. It took just shy of a month, but I am impressed they called back...with an answer.

2003: 25807 were built
2004: 22207 were built
2005: 16394 were built (but we're not done yet so this number is really bogus).

So...047634 means mine was built as an 04. :evil: :nono;

according the referenced site, nice find by the way, 2003 and 2004 numbers are as shown above with '03 first.

also according to that site 52,680 MY04 were registered in Europe leaving 11,820 for North America. does that seem right??
