After over a year of being partly disassembled I'm getting my 9k carlsson ready to relocate away from my ex's place to where I'm renting (about 5 km away). I want the car drivable so I've put the motor all back together with the AC/ACC gear all still removed (except the heater core). Went to start motor - nothing. Checked battery (good), tried it with another vehicle jumpered to battery (still nothing).

After a suggestion, I was able to get a jumper wire onto the solenoid terminal of the starter and directly engage it from the battery, so I think the starter is ok.

Next step seems to be getting access to the ignition switch and tracing what's going on from there to the starter relay and beyond. Before I dig around with the ignition switch I'll find where the starter relay is to make sure it's good and wiring to/from it is good.

Should I be checking anything else?

Craig.

5-speed. I fixed it. I worked out I had two problems - the original ignition switch was toast, and I'd forgotten that I'd unplugged the alarm (no way to identify it's origins or manufacturer or work out if it is 'original' to the vehicle or added later) at some point. Correcting those two things solved it and I had the car running for the first time in over a year.
