Sorry to ask about spark plugs (I searched) for a 2000 t5. NKG 6's or 7's & what is the difference?

I checked on the NKG page & it recommends bcpr6es11. I havent got the handbook with me.

The only difference is the heat range. The 7s are one grade cooler than the 6s. If you are using the 6 version and the insulators look white after use and you have trouble getting full boost, especially in hot weather, switch to the 7 range. If you are using 7s and the insulator is getting dark brown or building up deposits, go to the 6 heat.

Incidentally, it varies by manufacturer if increasing numbers are increasing or decreasing heat. Most of them use higher numbers for higher heat.

Be careful if you go to ngk.com as they sell NGK plugs and are not the sparkplug company. The site you want is ngksparkplugs.com. Sometime in the past, they changed over from the "bcpr6es11" identification system to a 4-digit numbering system. And, you can't covert the old code to the new number, at least I couldn't find it... Thanks guys I will get the 7's & check out the colour of the old plugs.

The plugs havent been changed for a few years & the engine is starting to ping under load. Its been very hot lately also, hot enough to bring in the higher cooling engine fan speed.

I never recorded the last oil change date either....wow I was way out with the month after I checked the bill!!! I wont make that mistake again.

Hey Musky... your car should be a T7 if it is a 2000 model here in Oz. Or is it a 1999 build and 2000 sale/compliance? In regards to plugs and it is a stock car, just go with the 6s.
