A friend that once owned a Saab 9000 told me the car had steel profile in it's bumper as a safety feature.

I'm curious whether my NG900 S also has that in it's bumper inside?

I think we do. I assume it's steel, but maybe it's some other metal. You can see it if you remove the grill. The grill has two clips on top on either side. Just squeeze them in and lift. Look down at the bottom of the grill and you'll see a substantial hunk of metal behind the bumper.

Yeah its basically the real bumper. The plastic is really just a bumper cover.

It's aluminum, actually. The bumper itself consists of a large aluminum beam and a thick piece of styrofoam. The plastic cover is purely decorative. Every modern car I've seen has this same type of bumper construction.
