Hi, I know there have been many similar threads on this but was hoping for a definitive answer if that's possible. I've just had a new slave cylinder fitted as the previous one failed. Everything seemed fine to start with, a mechanic friend did the fitting. But after a short journey the slave cylinder is leaking fluid at an alarming rate. Could this be a faulty slave or an error in refitting, so long as I keep topping up the fluid the clutch operate without problem. The slave cylinder supplied was slightly different from the original not having circlips if that has any relevance. Your advice would be much appreciated.

It's been noted over the years that one either buys an OEM slave .. OR.. rebuilds.. Competently.. an OEM one.
Failures are common with the cheap aftermarket replacements.. as you now know firsthand.
