I'm looking at getting a 94 Saab 900S. What do I need to know about owning one? This one has, from what we can tell, been kept up by it's orginal owner, and is in super condition; it's only got 80,000 miles on it. How is upkeep? Since it's been well taken care of, it should do well for a few years shouldn't it?
Anyway, any info/tips would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!

First, welcome to SaabCentral and to the world of Saabing!

Here are a few good links to take a look at:

A very good FAQ thread:

A second hand buyer's guide: http://www.saabcentral.com/techhelp/gm900_93/NG900_buyers_guide.php

One of the most importants things to check out with Saabs is the service history, make sure it has one. Something to keep in mind is that '94 was the first year of the new generation of 900's, so it did have it's own quirks and many upgrades (particularly the front suspension) have been applied in the years that followed, but not something to base your decision on. A good SC member to get the attention of for the '94 is JMarkert, he has a '94 900S. Overall a great car, just keep current with the service (great opportunity to get into DIY if you haven't already). Overall the biggest things I've had to do with my NG900 is replace an AC line, replace pads and rotors all around and of course regular oil changes.

Good luck with your potential purchase!
