Hello fellow Saab owners,

Disclaimer: I believe this topic is the correct place to post this thread; if not, I apologize.

Yesterday (unfortunately), I misplaced the key to my 2008 9-3 2.0T Saab and seem to have completely lost them. After hours of frantic research about what to do, I figured I would post on a Saab forum to make sure I am not going to waste my money on anything not necessary.

What I've seen is that, since I have my spare key (THANKFULLY), all I have to do is find a local dealership and just get a new key and have them program it. However, I haven't been able to find a true dealership near me, but rather just shops that could service Saabs.

I just have a few question that I hope could be answered here:

1) Should I buy a key from a third-party before going to the dealership? Would that save money or would it just be a waste of time?

2) How much can I expect to pay to replace one key (I have a spare key)?

3) Is anyone aware of any trusted sites that could replace my key if any of these local "dealerships" cannot?

Thank you to everyone who reads and responds. Look forward to hearing back from my fellow Saab community.

Least expensive solution is to order a fob from one of many online sources like

Eeuroparts.com
Saabusaparts.com
Thesaabsite.com
Saabpartscheap.com
Saabpartsonline.com
Esaabparts.com

Part number for fob is 12783781. http://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/33056/Remote-Transmitter-Key-12783781/

If you need the metal key as well you need to provide the VIN if getting it from any above site. Part number is 12787976
http://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/51602/Key-Coded-12787976/

Then try to find a member who has a Tech2 to program it for you.
