Today I noticed a disconnected ground wire hanging in the engine bay. One end attaches to one of the screws that holds the oil dipstick housing to the engine, and I can't figure out where the other end is supposed to go. Any ideas where this is supposed to go?

Sounds like it could be for something that a previous owner put in and removed - or was using to test something.

Make certain you have the earth wire from the alternator to the oil filter inplace, there's also one between the engine & body/chassis. Extra earth's won't do any harm.

A mechanic friend of mine had me attach that one to the bolt that holds the coolant reservoir down -- careful not to over tighten! He says it's a better ground than the painted surface behind the intake.
