ive heard of this before but i just want to make sure exactly how to do it. ive heard of removing the resistor within the intake tube but is that the way?

You have a late model T5, (if I'm wrong I'll be corrected shortly), so your air box should have piping that takes the mouth of the intake to the upper part of the left fender, right over the wheel well. If you look at your air box, on the bottom is the hole that air comes in from, a small plastic pipe comes off from it and is attached to the rest of the intake. detach everything after the plastic pipe and attach a wide diameter tube to it that sucks air from lower down in the engine bay where air is cooler.

I know this is how my 02 SE is set up, and I am 90% sure that M98-02 had the same set up.
