Hi guys, one evening I was driving home and after about 40minutes I felt a misfire and what would happen also on an uphill, when you accelerate the engine pulls dead, ease off and then it sort of recovers, but then you need to nurse it. I was doing about a 160km/h when this missfire started.

Anyway then the car ran fine but a further 25mins into the trip it started missing again and eventually died next to the road. We towed the car home and low the next morning it starts off first thing and goes normally again, until its been going at a steady speed for say 30 minutes then this missfire appears. Check Engine light also flashes.

Will SAAB be able to identify a problem, even if it manages to start off normally, and what would normally be the cause of this?

ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED, BEFORE I HAVE TO GO TO SAAB DEALERSHIP! THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!

Regards

Do have the codes read.
I suspect the CPS and the DIC(direction ignition cassette)
Suspicions must be proven.
Check the plugs.
I think that, if failing, the CPS would not trigger the tachometer during its "off" time..I doubt that this helps.

CPS being what part, excuse me if I'm a bit slow...The tacho stays steady, there are no irregularities in it, when it misfires just a major shudder through the engine and gearbox.

I believe that my DIC has been replaced by SAAB, so how long is it supposed to last?

Ahhh CPS, that was replaced just over a year ago. I think it feels like a stumlbing, and it happens at say a steady 120km/h for instance and then I shift down to 4th gear to overtake and it will stumble and stutter so much so that the gear lever shakes quite a bit. When I thrashed it off the line through 123 didn't happen, so I don't really know...It happens as I said when the car has been driven a while...

Thanks for the help thus far...
