Last summer while on a road trip my boost pressure changed from a healthy running car to only having a maximum of 2 psi in the middle of the drive. I checked all the hoses, and I am confident I do not have a boost leak.

So what I'm thinking is APC stopped working for whatever reason, and my base boost it a little low. I plan to adjust base boost back to 6psi or so, and then troubleshoot the APC issue. What are a couple likely candidates of failure, considering it failed mid-drive? Any advice would be appreciated.

If you had full boost then it dropped to 2psi it's mechanical not electrical.

Broken waste gate spring seems likely to me, very easy to check.

I'd also consider a split vacuum line to your boost gauge making you think something is wrong.

If you successfully adjust your wastegate and you are stuck on base boost, then it's APC related.

I'd also check for badly seated rubber connectors on your turbo>intercooler pipes etc
