A few months back I had my 2006 9-3 2.0T SS dyno tuned. (I will post graphs soon). The car was run stock, then with a BSR Optiflow intake plus ECU remap, then with a 3" catless DP.

On the first pull the car made power up to 5000Rpm then the HP started to dip at 200hp @wheels and not make any more power.
The second set of pulls with intake and dynotune did the same except this time the dip in power moved back to 4500RPM and 210hp . So we did some trial and error that included re-installing stock airbox, changing the Platnium Bosch plugs that were in it when I bought the car to a cheap copper core autolite. checking fuel pressure, installing manual boost controller with guage to see if boost was cutting. All runs had the same dip in power.
Thinking the exhaust might be plugged or restricted at the Cats and muffler, I installed a 3" catless downpipe then did another run.... Same results except an increase in torque. The last possible option was to remove the muffler. That run made the same power give/take a few Trq/Hp. Power still is dipping at 4500RPM.

That being said. I trouble shot every know option until recently learning Saabs are picky about their spark plugs. I installed the factory spec'd plugs (NGK PFRT..??) . I have not taken the car back to the dyno since the correct plugs were installed. This may have fixed the issue. Before I make more pulls and find this wasnt the problem, are there any suggestions to what could cause this from experience?

so summed up, this is what was checked
Boost: 19psi and held steady
Fuel pressure : held steady
Air intake: Stock and CAI both checked
Plugs: incorrect Bosch platinums and incorrect Autolites ran on all pulls.
Exhaust: Catless, bigger DP, muffler on, muffler off.

please let me know if there is anything you experts can suggest.

Hi Dharen,

Quick question for you....do you have access to a tech II? I would be curious to see if you could trace any misfires that may have been occurring. this may give you some insight as to what was really going on in there

A few months back? What was the temperature like? As the car as well as the ambient rises the good stuff, aka, air available to the turbo diminishes.

What tune do you have on the car and what do they say?

I sure ain't the go to guy on this but it's the weekend so the real warriors are wrenching but ..

How old are the coils and how many miles on the car?

Plugs? I know that Vtuner (for the Holden 6 cylinder), tells you to toss the Bosch and get Denso Irridium with a (don't quote this), a slightly tighter gap?

He also stresses that you have to bring the car to a solid basic state and any leak or such will defeat the tune. Regarding those fancy filters, from my discussions they seem mostly "distant thunder" with almost no real gain. Perhaps one or two horses along the statistics of the power curve read out.

I do have access to Tech II. I havent went up to the dealer yet but I will this week. I do have a hand scanner and got a misfire pending trouble code. This occured when my car was in a warm garage 60F then parked outside for the weekend 20F degrees. It was hard to start and didnt want to crank. I assume this is from condensation in the fuel line. This all happened months after the dyno runs.
I will re pull this car with the new correct plugs and see what results. It just seems strange that it drops at 200hp, blips off and builds back. Its like something is stopping it from exceding the 200 or 210 mark.
The tune was done by Smokeys Dyno & Performance. They are a member of a worldwide tuning group and do complete ECU remaps. Their shop is one of the few places in the states that do Lambos, Ferrari, Masserati etc..... This power blip happend when the car was completely stock. It just got more drastic as the power increased. If these plugs dont fix it, Id maybe start thinking coil packs, or maybe some valve float at this high RPM ? (weak springs?)

thank you for your input.

Sounds like you're getting spark pull. The car may be knocking or on the verge. See if there is some way to log knock retard.
