Hey guys,

The shifter in my car is really loose, even when in gear. I've already replaced the bushing that is located in the engine mount, is there another bushing in the firewall that may also be faulty? or is it normal to be loose? its a 96 900SE 2.0T 5spd. Thanks guys,

matt

I have the same year and model as you, and I had (and still have) the same problem. Turns out theres a washer of some sort that fell off of the linkage assembly...sorry I can't describe it to you any better because my dad was the one under the car while I played with the shifter. I suggest you do the same; have someone else change gears while you play around with the linkage and see if there's something loose--we didn't even have to remove the linkage to figure out what was wrong.

edit: oh and my car has the new style linkage, just fyi
