My Saab turns over no start. It’s been sitting a few years but always starts up every few months. I’m guessing the gas is bad. Or the fuel filter is plugged. Is there a easy way to drain tank? SC

Jumper wire was too small....

Any local hazardous waste facility will take that old gas. You could also burn it a little at a time without dire consequence. I usually put 2-3 gallons in the Suburban.... It has a 40 gallon tank so it's plenty diluted.

In the olden days (1960s), Mercedes recommended adding a gallon of gasoline to a full tank of fuel in their Diesel cars when temperatures are consistently below freezing.
Fuels are better now....
Peugeot was still saying that in '79, but Diesel was high sulfur/high wax content back then, with the ultralow sulfur diesel today I wouldn't do it. Today's fuel already has a lube problem and gasoline would make it worse.
I have a '41 IHC truck (gasoline) that will burn most anything, Barring that if you have doubts, dispose of it, don't try and burn it in an engine. The costs of repairing an IP on a diesel is far more than what you will save on disposal costs.

Update! Stuck an after market fuel pump in. The stock screen on the right is completely clogged. I broke the black pressure hose to the filter. Can I snake a rubber fuel hose from the filter, Over the tank to the canister filter or should I run a metal brake line or something else. Thx. sC

The system runs at about 70 psi, regular rubber fuel line is not commonly rated for pressure like that; regular hose clamps won't do.
Original line is available in bulk, the fittings are easy once you learn how (not heating the line!).
Your local auto parts store may have a suitable generic product.

You can buy "fuel injection hose" - SAE 30R9 - which is rated for 100 psi. For a short run, less than a foot, it's a viable but not great repair. A run from the filter to the pump, in places where it's hidden and could be abraded, I would not do. I would also avoid using steel line, as it can rust. Nicopp is not suitable for fuel. Saab used nylon for a reason... It's kinda rough to deal with, but I'd stick with it.

Maybe try car-parts.com or call Goldwing... That section of tube is quite short and easy to replace. Gotta be one in a junk car somewhe.

You can get a press in union fitting and some identical plastic fuel line at most Autozone stores. They fit the fuel line perfectly and I've put many trouble free miles on this repair. The fuel line comes in a short 15 inch approx. section often with a Ford fitting on one end, but i just buy it for the fuel line. New plastic Saab connectors are also available online which you can press into the plastic hose.

Did the same repair for the banjo bolt at the fuel rail, attached a photo of the union fitting in use under the hood (dont want to take my trunk floor out).
