Lately I've been doing a lot of work on my car. And I'm at the point now where things are finally coming together and after cleaning up the inside (the floor mats particuarly) I am reminded of some sort of leakage coming through under the clutch pedel down the carpet and on to my floor mat. I can't tell what it is, it doesn't smell like anti-freeze, but I could be wrong. Either way it's eating away at the floor mat and anything leaking is not good. I've already had the heater valve replaced when I first got the car and this dreadful thought that the heater core is leaking is in the back of my mind. Any idea what could be going on?

If it's antifreeze, it will have a sweet taste or it could be brake fluid if the master cylinder is leaking.

If the fluid is eating the floor mat, then it's more likely to be brake fluid from the clutch master cylinder than antifreeze.

the master cylinder makes sense and it doesn't really look that hard to replace. Thanks for the link that'll help out a lot.
