So i have recently purchased a 2001 Saab 9-5 knowing it had this knock. It is a consistent noise and it seems to be in the valve train below the Direct Ignition. I have replaced all of the lifters and it still made the noise, please help me. i have a recording of the noise if you want to email me at [email protected] i will be happy to send the file to you it might help. THANK YOU!!!

Pull the head and the oil pan. Sounds extreme, but you're going to end up there sooner or later. You've probably got a worn out piston banging around in a cylinder. Noise starts out pretty subtle, but the longer it runs the more damage it does. Catch it early and maybe you cheat in 1 piston and some bearings and get some use out of the car without a high$ rebuild
