hi chaps noticed a knocking today as i turn the wheel pretty sharply from left to right.
the knocking seems to be coming from the passenger footwell area any ideas as to what i may be looking for when i jack it up thanks lads
Were you moving when the car made this noise? A knocking sound can be made by a failing CV joint if the noise appears when you turn the wheel sharply to the left or right while moving.
If you have a jack, lift up the front of the car and inspect the rubber boots where the axle meets the suspension struts. Also look in the wheel wells and on the suspension control arms. There should be no rips or tears in the boots, and no grease splattered around the wheel area. If there is, one of the boots has ripped and the grease in the CV joint is gone, and if its gotten to the point of making a knocking noise, likely needs to be replaced.
