I had one key (yes unfortunately past tense) for my '99 9/5 and now you can all guess where this is going. I've torn things apart and 'Ground Hog Dayed' the last few days over and over but I believe that I've got to accept the fact that my keys are never to be seen again. The dealer has said that it isn't possible to have another key made if I provide the VIN. Can this be true?!...and what is a person to do? Surely I'm not the only idiot that's put themself in a situation like this.....or...have I really outdone myself and all others this time? Any one care to make suggestions and ballpark what this may cost. Thanks and happy new year to all.....it's gotta get better.

No, you're not the only idiot to do this so you rest easy on that one. Dealer is telling you the truth though, the keys are married to the TWICE unit (theft warning integrated central electronics). Your best bet is to ring around Saab specialist parts suppliers and get a used TWICE unit with at least one key (preferably two) and fit them. You can then just get the key profile cut at the dealer (using the VIN) and installed into the keys for the ignition/door locks.
