My girlfriend is considering a '97 GM 900 convertible. Found an ok one, all seems well except that it does not go straight into 5th when you move the gearlever fully over to the right. Instead, you have to take it back a touch and then go up.

Anyone experienced this? Or just normal on a 96,000 miler?

On my 900 Classic it goes directly into 5th if you push up with the gearlever fully over to the right :D

Hi.
Sounds like the shifter linkage may just need alligning.

My 5th is the same on my new 82000 94 (M) 900 se turbo.

The shifter is all nylon and plastic underneath the rubber boot. So in time it wears this plus the actual linkage at teh transmission end can end up giving little niggles such as what you are talking about.
To align the linkage is a 5-10 minute job.

I guess I should align my linkage this evening. Been a bit lazy.
