Disconnect the battery for about 5 minutes, then reconnect and do an adaptation run:

Run it at WOT from 2nd through 5th gears, from 2,000 to 5,000 rpm.

will try that, but to clarify, run it how? WOT= wide open throttle?
thanks
Yep....wide open throttle. The ECU needs to know what you want from it. Also...you're using premium gas, right?

Your gas pedal is your throttle control. WOT = pedal is floored :cheesy:

You will need a long and empty road to do this, because by the time you're doing this in the taller gears, you're gonna be well over 100mph before you finish the run. Shut it down if the speed becomes imprudent.

So I tried to do what was suggested. I went through the gears taking them all up to 5000 then shifting up. then i ran out of road, well nerve. holy cow. i think i thought it wasnt faster because I was shifting it well before 5000rpms. its fast, very very fast. i didnt push it all the way because i didnt want to go to jail, lose my car and license today!:nono;
thanks!

Adaptation runs often require a change of spark plugs and underwear.

Glad to see you had some success!

The best adaption run you can do is when you have a towing hitch. Hook up the heaviest trailer you can scrounge [without exceeding the permitted towing limit of course] and go through the same motions. The encourages the ECU to go further to the boost limit and when you unhitch? You have an even livelier car .

One suggestion though, when doing a trailer adaption, do not go past 3000rpm in 4th or 5th. Too fast for towing .

i was going a bit above the speed limit in 5th at 5000 rpms.
So how does all of the driving WOT like i did "re train" the esu. i thought that was the purpose of me getting it reprogrammed?

I'll try and answer [and probably get it wrong].

The Saab ECU programme has an adaptive function and it carefully adjusts the boost/mixture to suit the atmospheric and fuel quality parameters. With a chip package this engine protection protocol is retained, but the ECU needs to learn the operational extremes, the only way this can happen is with adaption runs.

Sometimes the car can overboost spike. It will then adapt right back and run under-performing.

and by long and empty road I believe he means a long and empty track ;)

by the way, I hope let the car warm up and cool down when you did this... especially seeing as how you are in CT, it must not be that warm.

just my two cents,
Shane
