I have recently talked to this guy who does Tints, he said 250 for all the windows.... but he suggested having a 35% done because its the legal amount in Mass. The only good thing about it was he'd put a decal in the tint for my back window, i wanted to get the Saab Emblem on it. Thought it'd look pretty cool, but the faint tint might not be worth the 250$

I don't tink 35% is too faint...It seems pretty dark to me. I have 40% on my sides and 20% on the rear. The back is a bit too dark, and the sides not quite enough. A lot of tint shops will do a hair darker and still give you a certificate. But $250 is a good price. Remember that it doesn't cost them anything different for how dark you go.

Depends on your interior. If black, 35% is pretty nice touch to your car. If light, 35% is definetly not worth the money.

Also, remember to ask what grade the film is. Mine is blueish and reflective so that when the sun hits it, you cant see through (not the chrome look! it just reflects the sun off when you look at it directly) The back will always look darker than the front side windows because the rear window is tinted too :cheesy:

$250 is reasonable. Ask about the front windshield. Some guys throw in 6 inches down as part of the deal :D

So in Maine the tint restriction are 50% on the film, not a net tint of 50. So first of all does anyone know if the saab windows have any natural or built in? If so how much?
Also, has anyone applied a 50% film. It doesn't seem like much so I was just wondering if it was at all worthwhile.

Well I just got 35% put on my car yesterday (Saturday). That's the legal amount here in NC. It looks good, and I have the tan interior. It's not blacked out, but I wouldn't describe it as faint either. I was able to get it done for $170 though. I'd say it's worth it for you. It really does look sweet.

Even though 35% tint may not be that dark, having the tint on the windows will still be very beneficial. The main thing that all tints do is to block a large portion of the UV and other types of radiation. This will help keep the interior surfaces from fading and deteriorating. It will also help keep the interior much cooler.

Another added benefit is if a window ever breaks, the tint will hold the little shards of glass together in a sheet, instead of flying around everywhere. I was in a rollover accident with a 91 9000, and the only window that broke was the rear window, and after we got out, I saw the rear window laying about 5 ft. from the car and the glass was smashed into pea-sized pieces, but they were still attatched to the tint. All 4 of us escaped without any cuts or scrapes!

I've now had 4 cars with tint, all of them 20% and have only been pulled over once, but the cop didn't say anything about it. One of my friends also had 20%, but he got a ticket for it and had to take it off.

My dad just got a 96 CSE and for his birthday I'm going to have 35% put all around.

I go to a place in Milwaukee that charges $185 to do the 4 doors and the rear window. They do a high quality job, but the completion time they give you needs to have about 3 hrs added to it. I've sat in their waiting room 3 out of the 4 times cause it wasn't done yet. I was able to knock the price down to $150.

Joe there really isnt much difference using the HP50, but it is a little darker. You notice it more when sitting inside the car.. :) .

Not sure about Stateside but UK 9-5's have that typical eurobox green tint to the glass as standard..
