Has anyone upgraded to LED bulbs for the instrument panel illumination? Bought the stepson an 88 16V NA auto, and he can't see the instruments. The spec for the bulbs is 12V 3W, but am looking for a solution that will provide more illumination. Any help would be useful.

Yes they have including me. They work great. There are several threads if you do a search. This is one;
