I am thinking of buying a 1993 900s

The main problem is that the ignition switch is stuck in the "on" position.

I read on another thread it was a very time-consuming repair.
is it possible to say - hook up a push button start? (please don't kill me)

I can't begin a task as large as that till the spring and i need an alternitive

I live in an apartment building with on-street parking and i have almost no tools here.

THS, this is probably good advice if you can get an assembly and key from a wreck. At the risk of attracting 900t's ire, I must confess I have done a switch/pushbutton in the past, because it was an old cheapie and we pay an arm and a leg for parts where I live. So if you decide to hook up a switch, here's how to do it:

These are the wires behind your ignition switch. By convention, they are assigned numbers:



30 -Grey (thick)
15 - Green/white
54 - Grey/white
S+ -Green
50 -Red/Yellow

You’ll need a toggle switch for “off” and “run” and a push button for “start”.


to one side of the toggle attach 30 and S+ (this is off)
to the other side of the toggle attach 30 + 15 + 54 + S+ (this is run)
on your start button, run 30 to one side and 50 to the other.

No matter where you are, it's a simple job. You dont need a lot of tools, just the right ones.

I am very capable of doing this.
it seems an easy task.

All i ment was i can't be removing my seats and dash while in the middle of a busy road :lol:

If you only need to replace the switch, you dont need to pull the left seat, just the center console.

Nah no reason. Once you take out the console, which is easily done (maybe some wiggling) the shifter/lock assembly is much narrower and just lifts out. You can just wire a switch, but it is like spending $10 to save $5 :lol:

why yes, it is :cheesy: i've used one for over a year now with great results, no problems, plus the look on peoples faces when they see it is awesome

Maybe if you could take off the screws and show us under how you did it? Send photos?

It is worth it for sure. If you buy it and do some work on it you can sell it in a couple of years for the same price or even more!

Word has it that Saab six cylinder motors are Opel motors, and are found in ng 900s.

So they are rare?

I would think a c900 with a six cylinder would be quite rare. The car has to be an ng.
