I am thinking of buying a 1993 900s

Clicky :cheesy:

The main problem is that the ignition switch is stuck in the "on" position.

I read on another thread it was a very time-consuming repair.
is it possible to say - hook up a push button start? (please don't kill me)

I can't begin a task as large as that till the spring and i need an alternitive

THS, this is probably good advice if you can get an assembly and key from a wreck. At the risk of attracting 900t's ire, I must confess I have done a switch/pushbutton in the past, because it was an old cheapie and we pay an arm and a leg for parts where I live. So if you decide to hook up a switch, here's how to do it:

These are the wires behind your ignition switch. By convention, they are assigned numbers:

30 -Grey (thick)
15 - Green/white
54 - Grey/white
S+ -
Green
50 -Red/Yellow

You’ll need a toggle switch for “off” and “run” and a push button for “start”.

to one side of the toggle attach 30 and S+ (this is off)
to the other side of the toggle attach 30 + 15 + 54 + S+ (this is run)
on your start button, run 30 to one side and 50 to the other.

I read somewhere that you did...i will find the thread
Nah no reason. Once you take out the console, which is easily done (maybe some wiggling) the shifter/lock assembly is much narrower and just lifts out. You can just wire a switch, but it is like spending $10 to save $5

Oh ok.

Heres the thread anyway - Clicky

What are the steps to removing the center console?

By the way, without going off-topic how does this sound -
1993 900s - $1300
No rust / very small dent on trunk
No records
New alternator
6-Cyl
5 Spd

Wow,

I was actually planning on doing that also on the weekend, but I was unsure.!!
Do you think you could write and tell us how did you do it and what wires you connected to the switch?

Maybe if you could take off the screws and show us under how you did it? Send photos?
Please let me know fast!!

Thanks a lot!

Hey,

It is worth it for sure. If you buy it and do some work on it you can sell it in a couple of years for the same price or even more!

Trust me.
