it would be a good idea for Saab to sell kits to make their cars similar to "push button start" as an aftermarket accessory. Just sell a leave in coded plug for the ignition switch (that would block debris from falling in).

I understand the key switch controls the door locks and some other things, but they could be programmed with the Tech II.

A guy can leave the key in the ignition...but that is about the worst of all options. There are guys who claim to place the key near the ignition and start the car with their thumb, but that could have problems too.

Leaving your key in the ignition of a 9-3 ss will lead to a dead battery relatively quickly.
