A while back I advised someone to rebuild a clutch master cylinder. I had rebuilt mine and everything seemed fine. It was a cheap fix etc... I had no reference point as to how the clutch should feel, because, it needed the master when I bought the car. Anyway, the rebuild only "lasted" a few thousand miles. I replaced it with a new one. It works better than ever. I would never advise a rebuild again.

You were not wrong. You got a cheap fix, you learned about how the master works, you gained in confidence and it might have lasted a lot longer (some of mine have). So you ended up having to put in a new master but it didn't cost too much more to have made the attempt in the first place...
