So i found at forum that someone wants to replace his 1.9d 88kw 2008 saab 93 manual. It has 271 000 km on clock. I myself have saab 93 2003 2.0T ~200kw. Cuz of gasoline prices i am considering a diesel car. Should i consider swapping for this diesel or is 1.9d 88kw really slow engine. ?

The 120bhp can easily be mapped to 160bhp (120Kw) but its better to find a 16v 150bhp if you can.
I have a 1.9TID Vert mapped to 200bhp and it competes well with my 9-5 Aero without the pain of fuel cost.

I have a standard TiD 2009 auto with 90K just about to come up. Having followed the site for the duration of my ownership (6 years) is it worth getting an upgrade from 150 to 160?

It seems very much the case that mpg also benefits. Presently with mixed motoring I achieve 40 on the clock which I guess is more like 36 mpg.

I have 2 x TID's Wagon,Vert(autos) and Saloon(TD 8V manual) all custom mapped.
EGR closed, swirl flaps fixed and tweaks to minimise the hesitation at low revs before the turbo kicks in etc.DPF is not disabled and I monitor routinely with the android app DPF info.

They can easily be mapped to 180-200bhp with little effect on mpg.
I routinely get >50mpg fully loaded with top box on a long run dropping to 35-40mpg around town.
If you are in the UK drop me a PM and I can send you details if your are interested.

BTW 150 to 160bhp will hardly be noticeable......if you want longevity with the car its important to sort the EGR,swirl flaps and inlet manifold.
Some remove the DPF completely and push the car toward 250bhp but with the latest MOT regs its just not worth it.

88kW version of 1,9 diesel (Z19DT) is 8 valve version.
I highly suggest that you get Z19DTH (16 valve and 1 turbo, 150hp) or Z19DTR (16 valve and 2 turbos 180hp).
2009 came Z19DTR vith 3 power steps (130hp, 160hp and 180hp).
