I have the handle removed from the car. I popped the small (~8-10mm) clip off the rear of the cylinder which allowed me to remove the part that attaches to the pushrod (to the locking mechanism). I can see my problem...one of the tabs is protruding too far due to wear...

How do I get the cylinder out of the handle? I've inserted the key...rotated all directions...but, can't figure out how to release it. Anybody? Which way does it come out (the key/handle side? or the 'back' side?) and what is the trick?

I knew it...as soon as I posted I figured out the clip holding it in place.

I will get some photos and update the thread for future searches.

I hate that door handle job. Here's the good news: Putting it back together is even worse than taking it apart.

Yeah...I had to abort mission and halfway put it back together...

For the life of me, I don't see how to reinstall the guide channel. It looks lie the top of it slots into something to locate it. I'm hoping that removing the window will help.

Any suggestions?

Don't take the window out unless you can't avoid it: You'll just add to your work. It's been a while but I think it just hooks in at the top with a little half hook that fits in a slot.
