got Check Engine #73 code (adaptive, short time) which I hear can mean almost anything.

(what does it REALLY mean anyways??? does it mean the computer is trying to "adapt" like how you gotta put 100miles on a system after major smog repair so the "system can learn"?)

Anyways, when I got this Saab it was surging in 1st and reverse (auto trans) but smooth in idle, and seems to run OK on open road and better once warmed.

At same time as Check Engine came on it seems weak starting when cold.

I'm thinking maybe I've got a hidden old vac hose I missed somewhere.

Will "Tech 2" give more and better info?

NEVER MIND, TURNED OUT TO BE 1/4" VAC LINE ON PASSENGER SIDE I'D SEMI-REPLACED CAME UNDONE. Engine light now off. :)

I've found that this guy Schrodinger on yewtoob to be very good at presenting pretty much every aspect of diagnostics.
Well worth checking him out:
