After a 2000mi trip with the car loaded (obviously overloaded and sagging) to the brim, it was clear the rear shocks were dead. Every bump sounded/felt brutal, even small ones.

Replaced the rear shocks with $50-a-piece Monroe shocks off Rockauto, and bumps are no longer brutal and it's much better but it doesn't really seem the same as it used to be, bumps still feel like they aren't being taken correctly.

How likely is it that the rear springs are dead too? Wondering if they were compressed so much/so long that they no longer are effective. Car has 90,000mi.

Really didn't want to buy springs & can't tell if it's the aftermarket shocks that aren't as good or if it's springs that are toast.
