Hi
Regarding saab 900i 1993.
There is no resistance in the handle, left from steering wheel. Cable looks it's not connected to the helmet. I don't know if there is a hook broken? Any idea what to do?

It looks like the eyelet for the release cable broke off the latch. It's quite difficult to reach up there and release is manually, but that's what you gotta do. It's helpful to remove the bumper when doing it.

Anyone have tips for preventative maintenance on the hood release cable? I'm having to pull on mine pretty hard and am always wondering when it's going to break.

Soak the parts of the cable and latch you can see with WD-40 or the like.
More important: Clean (sand lightly) and grease the striker pin on the hood; grease heavily with the the stickiest, most persistent grease you have.

Would it work if I connect the end of the cable hook to the eye latch? If not, how do I push the latch to release the helmet? It seems very stuck, probably due to rust.
