I recently had 4 new tires put on my car. Immediately after I heard this clicking sound from rear of car, brought it back 2 times but they did not find anything related to tires. The noise is getter louder and it seems to be from rear of car possibly exhaust related. Incidentally the parking brake will not lock, I cannot pull it into parking position. The rattling ticking seems to go away after driving for an half hour or longer, but comes back when driven again. I’m not sure but I believe the heat shield on left rear by gas tank came loose and haven’t been able to secure it, doesn’t seem to be the same noise. The noise sounds like cards slapping the spokes of a wheel if you get my meaning lol. The new noise is not the same as the noise previously from heat shield it is since new tires were installed. I had new brakes installed in June and other than one pad clip needing to be put back clipped in no other brake problems. I am at a loss and would really appreciate any help please!

Noise: Check the brake backing plate which is located behind the brake disc. It shields rocks, etc. from fouling the disc. It may have been bent when the wheels were being re-installed and it's being scraped by the disc as it rotates. The noise can sound like clicking.

Parking brake: Not sure what year 9-3 you have but on OG 9-3s ('99-'02, '03 Vert) the parking brake mechanism is attached to the backing plate so if it's damaged or rusted the brake operation may be affected. Otherwise, if yours is '03+, there's a problem with the lever locking mechanism under the console between the seats.
