Hi, I am changing my brake rotors and pads on the front. I ran into the issue where the brake pad on the outside of the car does not fit. The one on inner side, the piston side does fit nicely.

I think this is because the housing needs to come more outwards to create more room for the pad.
Using the handle of a screwdriver I can hit the housing inwards about 5mm, but wont come out more than in the picture below.

What can I do to make the new brake pads fit?

Don't hit it - have you wound the piston in? You see the 4 holes in the piston face just below your red circle? You need to use a special tool to rotate the piston to screw it back into the housing (and the other piston follows suit). That gives the clearance you need assuming nothing is seized.

I have wound in the piston, not sure how far in it has to go though. I have the saab tool.
It is now sitting flush with the dust cover ring.
