Hey guys, just got a 2002 9-3 2.0 4 Door Hatchback.

A/C seems to work fine and the blower is strong but the air never blows hot or warm on any setting.

All fuses are good and antifreeze levels are norm. Car operates at normal temperature.

I've searched the forums and couldn't find any info on this particular model and problem.

Thanks,

Pull the passenger inner kick panel and make sure the blend door is moving properly with turning of the knob.

With the car warmed up, feel both the hoses that run to the heater core and make sure they are the same temp (hot).

Feel the upper radiator hose and make sure it is firm and hot too.
Thanks, I'll have to wait till tomorrow to try these suggestions out but I know that 3 knob assembly has been changed out in the past because there's one laying in the back hatch area.

That kick plate doesn't seem to difficult...it's on the inner side of the passenger floor, correct?

Thanks.

Correct, two torx screws, one hidden behind the glove box door, just open it, the other down near the carpet in the middle, it will then slide forward and pull away, there are tabs on the center console that slide into it so be careful not to break those.

Check the hoses first since that doesn't require pulling anything apart.

Gotch'a, thanks.

Check the hoses first (hot).

If the radiator hose isn't firm?

Or if the 2 heater core hoses aren't hot?

If the blend door isn't moving properly with the turning of the knob, I can figure that one out...but what does the other two things mean and how to fix?

Thanks.

Well the upper radiator hose should be hot and firm, if it isn't firm or hot then the car isn't yet up to temp (or the thermostat is stuck closed but that would result in the car overheating), if the hose is firm and cold (or at least not hot) then the thermostat is stuck open.

If there is a difference in temp between the two heater core hoses then the heater core could be clogged.

Thanks again for all the help. It turned out to be the thermostat AND the blend door.

The thermostat was about $12 bucks and a half an hour to fix. The blend door was only a loose clip holding the cable in place, so about 45 min there.

I'm just glad I didn't have to tackle the heater core.
